Geico Auto Insurance GEICO actually stands for Government Employees Insurance Company, and was specifically started to help federal government employees and their families get auto insurance. GEICO likes to deal with their customers mainly via the Internet and telephones, instead of having offices and training field agents. GEICO does have a few field offices around the United States, but they just so happen to be only around military bases. GEICO has a few discounts that you are able to take advantage of. One discount is the defensive driver discount which is where drivers who are typically over the age of 50 voluntarily take a defensive driving course. There is also the driver training discount and is for people who have taken an approved driver training course. You can get a good student discount for full-time students who maintain a “B” average or better. There is also a multi-car discount for customers who have more than one vehicle insured with GEICO. You can also get discounts if your vehicle has an auto theft device and if you and your passengers wear their seatbelts. GEICO offers several different types of coverages. You can get liability coverage which covers both bodily injury and property damage. With bodily injury you will be covered if you were to injure or kill someone while you were driving an insured vehicle; along with any possible lawsuits. Property damage will help you if you would damage someone’s property while driving an insured vehicle, as well as any possible lawsuits. You can also get collision coverage with GEICO, which will pay for your insured vehicle if you were to hit or get hit by another vehicle or even another object. In order to keep your premiums as low as possible you should have as high as financially possible deductible for you. Comprehensive physical damage coverage is another option you can get with GEICO. Comprehensive coverage pays for your vehicles damage as long as the damage is not due to a collision. Some reasons for using comprehensive is if your car was damaged in a flood, fire, wind damage, or if it were stolen or vandalized, or if you hit an animal. Uninsured motorists coverage is another option GEICO offers, and is used if you were to get into an accident with someone who does not have any insurance at all. You can also get rental reimbursement with GEICO, which will pay typically up to $20.00 a day for a rented vehicle when your insured vehicle is out of commission. Emergency road service coverage is an option for GEICO customers if you locked yourself out of your car, need a flat tire fixed, have an empty gas tank, need a battery re-charge, or need towed. |
